Finally, we go back to the question of "Is this board for you"? Normal users who are after the features will no doubt be very happy with ABIT's NV7-133R as an upgrade as it is the most complete package board I have tested to date. Had it included an integrated GeForce4 MX onboard graphics, it would have been the ultimate all around board. People who have already have KT266A boards should not upgrade to this as it is not worth it in terms of performance gains. Extreme users like enthusiast and overclockers will not enjoy this board in any way as you cannot play with it or tweak it to your heart's content. This nForce board has still a lot room for improvement.

Although ASUS may not be a notebook brand name you are familiar with, expect that to change. ASUS' notebooks have been received with a good amount of success in the Asian and European markets and the company is now focusing their attention to the US market. The list of ASUS laptop resellers is growing rapidly for a good reason: ASUS produces quality products. You wont find ASUS notebooks at your local Best Buy or CompUSA, but many smaller computer resellers are picking up the brand.
All in all it will give us some new 3d features, but I don't think these will be accepted and used by the developers as fast as Microsoft would like. There are still only a few DirectX 8.1 games out and even when the DirectX 9.0 compatible videocards will be released DX 8.1 won't even be fully used. DirectX 9.0 is Microsofts try to compete the upcoming OpenGL 2.0 - it will be a hard competition for Microsoft.

Have you ever made a tape of your favorite songs to enjoy in your car stereo? Have you ever bought a CD and ripped it to your portable MP3 player? If so, you should know that recent changes to copyright law have been used to take away your personal use rights to the media you legally acquire. That means that activities like making mixes or copying music to a portable player are quickly being restricted or prevented.
Recording Industry Association of America senior executive VP/general counsel Cary Sherman says, "Once again, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has affirmed that Napster must do everything feasible to police its system against copyright infringement. As we have said from the very beginning, technologies are available that allow copyrighted works to be filtered out of a peer-to-peer system, and the big news from today's decision is the court's strong endorsement of that point."
In contrast, Green sought to enthuse JavaOne delegates over the popularity of Java. He quoted ARC Group figures that predict 400 million Java clients by 2003, and Evans Data which said Java is "the most frequently used programming language in the world" with 56% use. Green said three million developers use and contribute to Java technology.

Intel heavily promoted Rambus RDRAM as the most scaleable type of memory there is, but it has bowed to the marketplace by adopting the double data rate (DDR) standard wholesale.
Notebook manufacturers in Taiwan, both first and second-tier, certainly welcome Intel's new strategy. First-tier companies pointed out that after the price reduction, the P4-M would represent about 20% of a notebook's cost, compared to the current 40%. Retail prices of notebooks are thus projected to contract on average by US$300.
In the first three days in Germany MCV says only 10,000 Xboxes got into the hands of consumers, and this position was mirrored in France. In the UK it chalked up a healthier 48,000 in the first three days. MCV speculates however that large quantities of machines will have been bought by dealers; so although they might show up in any sales claims Microsoft makes (it hasn't, yet), they're only real say when (or if) they go out of the shop door.
Affected by slow demand in the clone markets, motherboard makers are trying to boost shipments by slashing product prices. The FOB (free on board) price of motherboards based on SiS chipsets has fallen below US$80, that of motherboards based on VIA chipsets below US$70 and that of motherboards based on Intel’s 845 series below US$100. The price-cutting trend has imposed considerable pressure on ECS, which has all but dominated the sector with its cheaper product prices.
Wil van den Berg, Chief Marketing Officer, Philips Consumer Electronics, noted: "Nike knows athletes and athleticism better than anyone else. By working together, Philips will be able to translate its core expertise in display, connectivity and storage technologies into product solutions that will delight millions of sports-loving consumers worldwide. But, more importantly, the vision of the future that the Nike and Philips brands share should lead to a vibrant new category of products and apparel."
