Bij het Britse PC PowerZone is een review verschenen van de Madplayer, een muziekstudio, mp3- en WMA-speler, FM-radio en karaokemachine in zakformaat. Het apparaat is vooral voor het studiogedeelte ontworpen, aangezien hij zijn opslagcapaciteit uit SmartMedia geheugenkaartjes moet halen. Volgens de reviewer is het maken van je eigen muziek met de Madplayer dan ook heel erg leuk om te doen en is de geluidskwaliteit zeer goed. Al met al een erg leuk apparaat, maar met een prijs van 250 dollar niet goedkoop:

If I had any criticisms of it at all it would be not including a proper user manual in the box, although they almost certainly will in the retail version or at least have the manual on the website by then. One other slight problem I encountered, which is possibly due to the lack of a manual! was the inability to play MP3 files directly from the MadPlayer - the only way I could achieve this was to convert the MP3 to WMA then transfer it to the MadPlayer - no major hassle, and the quality was just as good as the MP3 but took up much less space, so this may not be a bad thing.

Begin dit jaar hebben Microsoft en IBM de Web Services Interoperability Organization (WS-I) opgezet om de ontwikkeling van webservices te sturen. Hoewel ze met opzet concurrent Sun buiten de organisatie hebben gehouden, heeft laatstgenoemde afgelopen week toch een plek binnen het WS-I aangeboden gekregen. Het gaat hier echter om een tijdelijke plek van twee jaar. Sun is het hier niet mee eens aangezien ze permanent een vooraanstaande rol in de ontwikkeling van webservices wil innemen. Microsoft en IBM weigerden te reageren.

EMusic subscribers gain full rights to burn the files they have downloaded onto CDs or to transfer them to portable music players, as opposed to some other subscription music services, which place restrictions on how and where the files can be transferred and used.

De Consumentenbond wil graag horen van problemen die hieromtrent ontstaan om eventueel een proefproces te voeren in een specifiek geval.

In mobile PCs, Asustek seems to be taking a page from Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS), which has drawn attention for its unorthodox idea of skipping batteries for its portable computers, dubbed 'DeskNotes'. Like ECS, a Taiwan-based motherboard maker, Asustek has sought to apply its expertise in mainboards to PC making, creating new revenue streams.
