Guernsey Research analyst Chris LeTocq said Apple had aimed the Cube as an entry point to its professional G4 line, but the market Apple found was limited and largely consisted of upscale consumers.
"People who bought it were the high-end iMac guys," LeTocq said. But the demise of the Cube does leave a gap in Apple's product line, LeTocq said.
"The question is what is Apple going to have in its line for consumers who want more than an iMac?" One possibility is that Apple will introduce an all-in-one computer with a flat-panel display at this year's Macworld Expo, happening later this month in New York

Intel will also reduce prices on boxed Intel® Pentium® 4 processor kits that include RDRAM* in the box sold through authorized distributors to reflect declining RDRAM* prices. Boxed Intel Pentium 4 processors with RDRAM* provide system integrators with memory at extremely competitive prices.
One of the things that have been lacking out of the box with most Handsprings is a program or piece of hardware that allows you to use the built in microphone. I have always thought that a voice recorder would be a good use of the microphone built into every Handspring Visor. Well, look no further because Targus has a solution!
For the testing, we've installed each of the HSF units with a thin layer of Artic Silver II thermal paste, then checked the CPU temperature with Abit's system monitoring software after startup; this is it's 'idle' temperature. We then left the processor running under load for half an hour, and again taking a temperature reading using the Abit system monitoring software. We've kept the room temperature at a fairly constant, but very rough 20°C. The CAK was fitted using a shim; no testing methology here, i'd just prefer to keep my trusty Duron 800 as a chip rather than a keychain
With Windows, computer users assume programs will run on the operating system without having to be changed. But variations among different versions of Linux mean that applications often have to be tweaked for each flavor of the open-source operating system. "An application will run on different versions of Linux, but it takes some doing sometimes," said Scott McNeil, executive director of the nonprofit Free Standards Group.

We’ve finally released the PocketPC version of OpenDivX. Thanks to Oliver Drobnik (aka Mindpower), who was the first individual to start this project. Marc Dukette and Pedro have now taken the PocketPC to the next level and are doing what it takes to continue to improve this project. Also thanks to William Kinfoussia for all his help and support to this team.
The PRESTO III is employed at the Matsuoka Laboratory of the Global Scientific Information and Computing Center and the Department of Mathematical and Computing Science. It runs simulation and scientific applications such as operations research, high-energy physics, and neuroscience.
"Upon launching the project, we evaluated many solutions and concluded that the AMD Athlon processor was the best choice in terms of performance and stability. We are delighted that our PRESTO III cluster has become the first AMD Athlon processor-based computer to make the Top 500 list," said Dr. Satoshi Matsuoka, who led the PRESTO III supercomputer initiative. "We are grateful to our research sponsor, the Japan Science and Technology Corporation, for support throughout the PRESTO program, and to AMD for providing the processor technology. Our hope is to move up on the Top 500 list for the second half of 2001."
