The new DVD+R disc is based on Mitsubishi Chemical Media's proprietary DYN-AZO technology, which produces recording layer with an improved power margin and greater sensitivity that assures stable yet faster recording. This recording layer improvement enabled the company to develop the 4x discs.
With DYN-AZO, Mitsubishi Chemical Media achieved 4x speed recording of the same quality as 2.4x speeds. When recording at such high speeds, the disc must be a shape flat to minimize errors. The company uses the precision molding technology it proved with production of high-speed CD-R and CD-RW discs to make sure the new DVD+R 4x discs are shape flat.

"Freehand's strengths in DSP complement VIA's long term goals for the wireless market, where the capability of programming cores for different applications lends considerable flexibility for the adoption of DSP technology into our wireless product roadmap," commented Wenchi Chen, president and chief executive officer of Via, in a statement. "Moreover, the low power and small core size enable longer battery life and greater portability for enhanced mobility, in line with our vision of Total Connectivity."
Should you get AGP 8X on your next motherboard? The answer for now: not if you have to pay for it. In addition, we recommend you stay far, far away from motherboards based on the SiS 648 chipset - it's just too unstable..
Tobias was chosen as one of the four inventors who get the opportunity to pitch their ideas to a team of professional experts and product champions, all of whom have proven their ability to turn good ideas into household names. The 'mouse glove' is a wearable mouse device housed in a glove that has the potential to revolutionise the way computers can be operated.
According to Burk, Microsoft is not bound by those statements. "For all we know they may be feverishly working on their own patent applications," he said. "In the U.S. we give the patent to the first inventor, and there's some possibility that Microsoft, or someone else, could show that they were the first to come up with this and prove they deserve the patent."
For the new chipsets, however, sources said that SiS has intended to promote its new SiS746FX by stressing the product's DDR400 support, while VIA said that it may also launch a DDR400 KT400A chipset if its verification process with DRAM manufacturers goes well.
