Na AnandTech heeft ook Tom's Hardware een review online geplaatst van de nieuwe SiS645 chipset. Tom's Hardware had de beschikking over het zelfde pre-productie moederbord als Anandtech. De SiS 645 chipset is de eerste Pentium 4 chipset die gebruik maakt van DDR geheugen én een officiële licentie van Intel heeft. Hiermee heeft de SiS chipset al een voorsprong ten opzichte van VIA, die nog steeds rechtszaken voert over de Apollo P4X266 chipset.
Over de snelheid van de nieuwe chipset zijn ze ook bij Tom's Hardware te spreken. De Intel 850 chipset is in een aantal benchmarks sneller dan de SiS645, echter het verschil is zeer gering. Zodra er officiële productie modellen beschikbaar zijn, zal dit verschil waarschijnlijk nog kleiner zijn, aangezien het moederbord wat getest is niet op maximale snelheid was getuned.
De conclusie van de review is erg positief. De reviewer verwacht dat door de licentie problemen die VIA heeft, producenten sneller met moederborden met de SiS645 chipset op de markt zullen komen:
Intel may like it or not, but i850 is slowly becoming obsolete. Today SiS has introduced a product that makes Pentium 4 more attractive than ever. The SiS645 also shows that all the claims 'Pentium 4 needs RDRAM' that I had contradicted so many times in the past are simply false. Pentium 4 doesn't even need the 3200 MB/s of memory bandwidth provided by dual-channel RDRAM, as long as the 2666 MB/s offered by SiS645 and DDR333 are able to score the same benchmark results. SiS645 is THE i850 alternative for significantly less money.
[...] VIA won't welcome the introduction of SiS645 much. The battle with Intel is still going on and as long as this problem hasn't been straightened out, the big motherboard players won't start shipping platforms with P4X266. Now SiS introduced an even more attractive alternative. VIA will have to speed up this painful legal process as well as incorporate DDR333-support in its latest chipsets, so that it can strike back as soon as the legal battle is over.

In het Nationaal TTP-Project, waarin overheid en marktpartijen overleggen over de criteria voor certificering van TTP's, bestaat echter onenigheid over deze eisen. Het Nederlandse bedrijfsleven vreest dat cliënten massaal zullen overstappen naar buitenlandse TTP's, die niet met dergelijke eisen worden geconfronteerd. Veel cliënten vinden het geen prettig idee dat een TTP buiten hun weten om in staat is vertrouwelijke communicatie te ontcijferen, en door te spelen aan de overheid. De oprichting van Nederlandse TTP's zou daardoor een ernstige tegenslag krijgen. Bedrijven hebben al laten weten af te zien van de oprichting van TTP's indien de plannen doorgaan.
This overview and assessment of Plextor's latest Flagship CD-RW drive, almost seems like a repeat. As was the case when we first tested their 16/10/40A drive, we were more than impressed with the performance and quality of Plextor's new 24/10/40A. Throughout testing, the drive exceeded our expectations on every level, from simple reads, to DAE to doing what it does best, burning CD-Rs at blinding speed. During our testing we used a variety of media from 12X ready CD-Rs to 24X compatible discs from PNY. Never once were we given the gift of coaster. Not only were we coaster-less throughout testing but we even stressed the machine now and then by firing up an email client or word processing application. Burn Proof held true to form, allowing us decent control over the system even though heavily taxed in the middle of a write session.
Windows XP truly is a major step for Microsoft, as they finally merge the Home and Pro products into a single core OS, based on the proven and stable Windows 2000 core. XP adds lots of flare and eye candy to the mix as well, giving what we think, is the best mix of looks and performance of any OS on the market today. It's not a perfect OS by a long shot, but it's certainly the best overall version of Windows to come to market yet.
While the WD1000BB-SE doesn't feature a 10k RPM spindle speed, it's the first product the industry has witnessed in years that dares to break a significant ATA paradigm. Like 10,000 RPM rotation, 8 MB buffers were previously reserved for high-end SCSI units. In fact, the IBM Ultrastar 36Z15, Seagate's Cheetah 73LP, and the original Cheetah X15 all feature just half the cache of the WD1000BB-SE. Performance results suggest that the increased speed delivered by the BB-SE's larger buffer may in fact eclipse the gain that would be realized by cranking the WD1000BB up to 10k operation. Remember, the BB-SE is second only to the X15-36LP in both the Business Disk WinMark 99 and in our prototype RankDisk access pattern. 81% of participating readers say they would purchase a 10,000 RPM ATA drive even at a significant price premium. To us, this suggests that a majority of readers want to purchase an ATA drive that breaks the ranks and elevates performance to a new level. At $379, the SE commands just a 27% price premium over its $299 little brother. Sun has tolerated Java clones, which avoid mention of the 'J' word, such as HP's Chai project. Microsoft too avoids the 'J' word, deploying instead new write once, run anywhere term, "java-language syntax" (note the attention to case, there) suggesting that Java is now so generic it doesn't need the approval of Sun. This tactic is entirely consistent with Redmond's browser-war era strategy of divorcing Java the language from Java the platform.

De Pocket Digital PC camera heeft onder andere een ingebouwde flits, microfoon, LCD panel (mode selection) en een focus dial. Verder worden meegeleverd een draagtas, polsriem, USB kabel en een enorme zwik software. Het in zilvergrijs uitgevoerde apparaat ondersteunt Windows 98/Me/2000/XP en de adviesprijs bedraagt $149,99.
Het tweede apparaat is een webcam-only product en heet 
Goedkoop is de Peerless en de bijbehorende media niet. Dat is ongetwijfeld het gevolg van de toegepaste technologie: het is immers een aangepaste versie van een notebook harde schijf en dat is nu eenmaal niet te produceren tegen de prijs van een diskette of CD-RW. Het apparaat vormt dan ook geen alternatief voor beide doelgroepen. Hooguit voor de huidige gebruikers van een Iomega Jaz-drive met 1 of 2 GB capaciteit, die een opvolger met wat meer capaciteit zoeken.
