They have some great conveniences, such as an up-front headphone jack and a satellite based auxiliary input that most others lack, and at an estimated retail price of $129, are a fairly good value.

Look to the first D-Link mp3 portable DMP-MP100, it wasn’t anything to be proud about but with every product that proceeded it, it got better with more memory, stable firmware, less bugs…etc…. They are one of the few companies that can capitalize on their mistakes and make better products thereafter. We see a lot of promise in this CD/MP3 player from its great design to its great audio quality, if only D-Link can strengthen the laser and improve the ESP a bit, they will most likely have a winner on their hands. But for now, we recommend that unless you have access to top quality CD-R media, look elsewhere because the pauses between tracks are much too long and the battery life is much too short. The DMP-CD100 is a solid start but improvements are needed.
This just in: Microsoft issued Whistler build 2410 to technical beta testers Thursday evening, the first new build since the release of Beta 1 in late October. No word yet on the new features, but this version of Whistler, which is the next version of Windows, now features some intriguing anti-piracy mechanisms that create a personal product identification code that is attached to the machine on which the OS is installed. If I understand the purpose of this new scheme, Microsoft is finally following through on its long-time threat to enforce its licensing policies, as each Windows license is technically attached to the machine on which it is first installed, and is not attached to the person that installed the product. With the new scheme, it will no longer be possible to use the same Product ID to install Windows to more than one machine.

The many similarities between this system and the 3050M lead it to be compared to its little brother. The acoustics of the system are reduced by the efforts to bring more power in. At $99 estimated street price, the system does not quite achieve the power it tries for. Sonically, the smaller system (3050M) has better matched components as the satellites will not be overdriven by the higher power. It also carries a lower price tag. Mounting the control module in the computer does save desk real estate, though it ties up more valuable space in a case. It has a high gimmick factor; those that want it will enjoy it, while those that don't need it will most likely be bothered by it.
