We were very impressed with the BA7500 system. The subwoofer in particular puts out incredible sound that balances very well with the satellites. The bass did not overwhelm the other components and was much cleaner, crisper and discrete than competing products in this price range, such as the Klipsch v2.400. The satellites would have served the system better had they included dedicated mid-range and treble drivers, however.
DVD movies have seldom sounded this good on a PC. As is the case with all Dolby 5.1 systems, we wish that the rear surrounds were used to a greater degree, but beyond that, we were impressed with just how well the BA7500's performed when playing DVD soundtracks. The LFE channel was readily apparent and the front satellites did a pretty good job of creating a virtual center channel. The overall DVD listening experience was so effective that we might even label it "PC Theater."
[...] The $300 retail price may seem a bit steep for the average user, but when you factor in the built-in Dolby hardware decoder, the flexible mounting options and the overall versatility of the system, it can begin to look like a bargain. They're not perfect, but they are pretty darn impressive, and we think that any gamer or music fan who wants to be thoroughly immersed in a DVD movie from time to time should give the Boston Acoustic BA7500's a serious look.
