The GUI in Whistler is very pretty. It looks much like one of the fancy themes for KDE or GNOME (both for Linux's X-Windowing System). In fact, Whistler's GUI actually supports different themes. It supports more integrated themes than MS Plus! allows, too. In fact, you can pretty much customize every part of the Whistler interface.
Working in Whistler couldn't have been better. The new GUI style was extremely easy on the eyes, and the fading menus added a nice touch. I was impressed with how they redid the Control Panel, too. Instead of the boring list of categories, they throw in a few wizard-like menus which help you to easily get to where you're going. A lot of pressure has been put on Microsoft lately to completely rework the GUI of Windows from Macintosh enthusiasts. Mac OS X lets users fly through menus extremely efficiently by using several panes. Microsoft has saved this major update for Windows "Blackcomb", which is their next release. Blackcomb is supposed to "revolutionize the way we use our PC's". Once we get our hands on a Blackcomb beta, we will have a preview up for ya.
