After some waiting, stores in Akihabara opened their doors as early as 7AM this morning in order to accommodate tens of thousands of awaiting customers. The media presences were enormous, as everyone swarmed around the first few PlayStation2 adopters. The lucky few were whisked in and out of stores, having been waiting outside select stores for nearly two days.By 9AM, some lines in Akihabara were literally thousands of people deep, with no signs of letting up. While some major chains were distributed relatively large quantities of PlayStation2 systems, it's veritably impossible to satiate the swelling demand in the streets.
