Avo Kanadjian, vice president of worldwide marketing for Rambus, confirmed that last week's settlement with Hitachi doesn't cover the joint venture, which will be the sole marketing arm for DRAMs produced by both Japanese chip makers. "It covers the transition period before the NEC and Hitachi joint DRAM venture becomes effective," he said.[...] However, Kanadjian said Hitachi Ltd. would continue to pay royalties for the synchronous logic controller interface that is part of its Super H series of microprocessors that connect directly with memory. Hitachi will produce and sell the Super H line itself.
