TweakTown heeft de handen uit de mouwen gestoken en eens gekeken naar de vroege beta's van Microsoft Windows Whistler 2001, de opvolger van Windows Me en 2000. Er wordt in deze preview eigenlijk nog niet zoveel interessants gemeld; het lijkt allemaal nog heel erg op Win2k. Ook van de functie om skins toe te passen is nog niets te zien. Volgens de previewer is het op dit moment ook niet meer dan een 'update' van win2k, zoals SE dat was voor Windows 98:
Well, I was very impressed with where Microsoft are going with their operating system. There are 2 planned operating systems in the pipeline from MS that you probably don’t know about. As you are reading this article, Microsoft is hard at work bringing out to the consumer, the next state of the art OS. Whistler is only a tip of an iceberg to what is in stall from MS... To rap this article up, Whistler 2001, as it stands is more an option pack then a _new_ revolutionary operation system. I can’t see this as being much of a big hit of a release as its stands, with this build I have in my sweaty little hands. Its the same as when WinSE was released, I didn’t venture far from my fridge to get my self a copy. As I’m sure a lot of people will say when Microsoft Whistler 2001 is released.
