LyX is een document-opmaaksysteem dat vooral in de academische wereld wordt gebruikt, omdat het eenvoudig formules kan samenstellen en een overzicht van de documentstructuur toont. In tegenstelling tot reguliere tekstverwerkers, zoals Microsoft Word, AbiWord en OpenOffice.org Writer, die het wysiwyg-principe gebruiken, maakt LyX gebruik van wysiwym, zoals dat ook wordt toegepast in TeX/LaTeX en DocBook. LyX 1.6.5 released.
We are pleased to announce the release of LyX 1.6.5. This is the fifth maintenance release in the 1.6.x series. The release comes with many fixes and improvements. A number of newly reported crashes were fixed, new layouts and modules were included and some long-standing requests were implemented (e.g., a working LyX server on the Windows OS, finally enabling the communication with other applications such as JabRef on this platform as well).
All users and distributors are encouraged to upgrade to this version.
Please find enclosed an announcement, some sources in tar.gz format (also .tar.bz2) and finally a gzipped patch (in .bz2 too). In a few days there should also be some binaries (mirror server).
