The company, which owns about 25 million MIPS shares, said last year that it would divest its interest in the unit that designs computer processors. Shareholders as of June 6 will receive 0.135 MIPS share for each Silicon Graphics share on June 20.SGI, based in Mountain View, Calif., has focused on computers for scientific applications as rivals such as Hewlett-Packard invaded the market for high-powered machines used in animation and graphic design. The company has sold some units and is betting new product introductions will help boost revenue going forward.
