Software-update: VLC Media Player 2.0.1

VideoLAN heeft een update voor versie 2.0 van VLC Media Player uitgebracht. Deze opensource- en crossplatform-mediaspeler kan diverse audio-, video- en streamingformaten afspelen, zonder dat hiervoor de desbetreffende codec hoeft te worden geïnstalleerd. Downloads zijn beschikbaar voor Windows en Mac OS X, terwijl de broncode het programma ook bruikbaar moet maken voor besturingssystemen als Linux, BSD en Solaris. Een versie voor Android is nog in ontwikkeling.

Versie 2.0, die codenaam 'Twoflower' meegekregen heeft, is onder andere een stuk sneller op systemen die met een multicore-processor zijn uitgerust. Verder ondersteunt het meer mediaformaten, wordt ondertiteling in een betere kwaliteit weergegeven en is er experimentele ondersteuning voor blu-ray-schijfjes. In versie 2.0.1 zijn verder de volgende veranderingen en verbeteringen aangebracht:

Van VLC hebben we dus weinig meer gehoord.

Ze zouden op 25 december 2010 "binnen enkele weken" een android versie uitbrengen, maar als ik nu op hun site kijk staat er niets meer dan "VLC for Android is in development."

Weet iemand hoe ik standaard audioapparaat van stereo naar 5.1 kan instellen? Of is dat een instelling waar ik domweg overheen kijk? Het verveelt wat dat bij elk afspelen van een film die 5.1 ondersteund, manueel in audio/audio-apparaat te moeten doen.

Bij de audio instellingen 'Dolby Surround' op aan zetten ipv auto. Werkt voor mij.

Gelukkig, ik weet niet of meer mensen er last van hadden, maar mijn .mov filmpjes van mn Canon Camera speelde hij (versie 2.0) ineens met veel blokjes en wegvallende beelden af. Kijken of dit helpt!

Erg benieuwd naar dit, want nu is het zo dat je een hele lelijke library balk aan de linker kant hebt standaard, hopelijk is dit ook weer netjes slim te maken.

Eindelijk gewoon een tijdsaanduiding bij MPEG2-TS files. De tijdsbalk is ook verbeterd zie ik. Goed bezig! M'n vaste player blijft overigens gewoon Potplayer, al gebruik ik de laatste tijd veel MediaPortal. Ik moet wel toegeven dat VLC z'n DVB-subtitles beter voor elkaar heeft dan Potplayer.

Ben benieuwd of dit helpt met onze netbook... bij de update van v1.x naar v2.0 was de nieuwe UI-balk in full-screen ineens grafisch te intensief of zoiets: elk muisbeweging betekende vijf seconden lang geen beweging op scherm terwijl het geluid doorging - en als dat balkje weer weg was daarna had je een gebroken beeld die langzaam weer "schoongeveegd" werd door bewegende delen van het filmpje.

Dit programma gebruik al jaren. Geweldig programma, speelt alles vlekkeloos af voor mij. Hoop eveneens als MossMan dat deze versie beter draait op de netbook. Grafisch is deze toch weer iets zwaarder. Anders wordt het de oude versie 1.1.1 zo uit m'n hoofd.

Het afspelen van bestanden in een RAR-archief dat in delen is opgesplitst (.r01, .r02, .r03 tot .rxx en .rar) werkt nu weer (of werkt nu beter)
