dEjAvU schrijft dat er bij AnandTech een review van de All-in-Wonder Radeon te vinden is. De All-in-Wonder kaart is uitgerust met 32MB 6ns DDR Ram wat vergeleken met de normale Radeon niet goed klinkt: die heeft namelijk 64MB 5.5ns DDR Ram. Om deze reden presteerd de All-in-Wonder kaart ook een klein beetje slechter dan de grote broer, hij is ongeveer 10 procent langzamer.
Het prijskaartje was de belangrijkste reden om gebruik te maken van minder en langzamer geheugen. ATI vindt namelijk dat een computer thuis hoort in de woonkamer, en daar zit dus ook hun doelgroep. Omdat een prijs van 330 dollar nog steeds erg stevig is staan er op de planning ook nog All-in-Wonder kaarten op het menu met SDR geheugen of 16MB DDR geheugen.
Over de TV capaciteiten van de kaart zijn ze bij AnandTech wel te spreken, zover ik het uit de review kan opmaken is het niveau minstens gelijk aan dat van normale TV kaarten. Een Radeon kaart is niet voor iedereen: als je elke 6 maanden de computer upgrade is de tv tuner weggegooid geld en als je de snelste kaart op de markt wilt hebben is de All-in-Wonder kaart ook niet da kaart. Maar als je gewoon een snelle kaart wilt hebben samen met een TV tuner en niet zo’n upgrade gek bent is de All-in-Wonder kaart zeker een optie die het overwegen waard is:

That brings us to our next point. Just what is the price for the 32MB All-in-Wonder Radeon? Well, it should be arriving at shelves near you with a sticker price of $329.99. Luckily, ATI has provided a mail in rebate worth $30.00 to help ease the purchase and put the final price of the 32MB All-in-Wonder Radeon to the magical $299.99, placing it only about $25 over the price of a ViVo (video-in/video-out) 32MB Radeon. Quite nice, considering the added benefits of the All-in-Wonder products have usually come at a more hefty price premium.
Is the All-in-Wonder Radeon right for you? As always, that depends. Some people out there reading this will know that the All-in-Wonder Radeon is just the card they have been waiting for, finally matching 3D performance with a TV tuner. A student going to college may be a perfect example, as the All-in-Wonder Radeon not only allows you to play Quake with the best of them, it also allows you to watch your favorite episodes of South Park right on your computer.
In addition to those out there who know that the All-in-Wonder Radeon is the perfect video card upgrade for them, there are also those who know that the last thing they need in their system is a television. Be it because they don't have a coaxial connection for cable in the computer room or that they do not feel that using your monitor as a television is all that appealing, these users would be much better off going with the regular Radeon.

) Voorts zitten we met PC's toch ook steeds een hele tijd voort te ploeteren op een zelfde modulair Mobo ? Dus dat lijkt me het probleem niet echt. En dat geheugen eerst upgraden en dan de GPU geeft je in dat geval dus steeds een leuke snelheidswinst. Voorts kan misschien ook een andere chip-bakker een GPU'tje ontwikkelen voor je platform, betere drivertjes schrijven,... lekkere concurrentie laten losbarsten en daar zijn wij dan weer blij mee.
