Planet Hardware kon niet achter blijven in het GeForce2 Ultra geweld van de afgelopen twee dagen en heeft een eigen GeForce2 Ultra overclocking guide in elkaar geknutseld. De 4,4ns DDR chips van het exemplaar dat door Planet Hardware werd gepijnigd, kon tot een 8% hogere memclock van 500MHz overgeklokt worden. In de Quake III benchmarks was de opgevoerde GF2 Ultra op 1600*1200@32-bit bijna 15% sneller, dus blijkbaar heeft het omhoog krikken van de core snelheid wel degelijk zin bij de de GeForce2 Ultra:
The core did seem able to go slightly further than 300MHz when extremely cooled though, but not in a stable manner. Had we added an active solution like a 72-watt peltier it's likely our card could attain and hold a core speed of 310 to 320MHz as long as we were willing to give up three to four PCI slots due to the height of the heatsink, and guarantee good ventilation for the heatsink to dissipate heat.
For the DDR SDRAM however, no amount of additional cooling would enable our card to hit speeds beyond 500 to 505MHz. While we had perfect stability and no visual problems at 500MHz, setting the memory to 505MHz produced immediate lockups and grossly distorted graphics that rivaled the best impressionist paintings we've seen in museums. In other words, games would be unplayable with this much corruption.
