Gisteren hebben de ontwikkelaars achter Media Portal eindelijk de finalrelease van versie 0.2.3.0 uitgebracht. Met Media Portal kan een Windows XP-machine als het hart van de multimedia hardware in de huiskamer worden gebruikt. Zo kan er op een eenvoudige manier naar radio en muziek worden geluisterd, naar video's en dvd's worden gekeken en kunnen tv-programma's worden opgenomen. Door middel van plugins en extensions kan de functionaliteit worden uitgebreid en de look & feel van het programma worden aangepast. De release notes van deze versie hebben het volgende te melden over deze uitgave:

- fixed: folder thumbs were neither cached nor created in database views
- improved music database scanning speed, folder thumb generation can also use album art of other players like WMP now.

- fixed possible index-out-of-range exception when loading shuffled playlists, use better random generator to increase speed while loading large playlists
- Fixed: Song duration was displayed in seconds when a database view was sorted by artist or by album
- TSReader: Don't always do a full rebuild of the Directshow graph. This can speed up channel changes a lot when using TSReader in some cases.
- fixed: Suggestion slider was useless because minimum similarity had been disabled. Now "Similar" lookups are more exact again.
- fixed: Match column sorting did only work for some countries, artist lookups weren't parsed correct
- fixed null-ref-exception on scanning when mp3 tags contain invalid cover art
- Visualisation was minimised on song change, while in fullscreen
- Autoshuffle for Music Playlists was not working
- Exception in Tagreader, when an OGG File contains an invalid comment

- Striping of Artist / AlbumArtist Prefix also works now for songs with multiple artists
- Songs with no Album or Genre were not listed / found in the Album / Genre view
- fixed null reference exception when Alarm could not be fired in time
- Changes to the Settings for Music DB scan were not honored immediately. Restarting Config was necessary.
- Scanning for Various Artists didn't work
- Artists and AlbumArtists were added Case Sensitive, which caused thenm to appear multiple times
- Added support for Fraunhofer VBR Header to Tagreader
