Software-update: Blender 5.0.1

Blender logo Versie 5.0.1 van het crossplatform- en opensourceprogramma Blender is uitgekomen. Deze applicatie is bedoeld voor 3d-modelling, animatie, rendering, postproduction, interactive creation en playback. Meer informatie over de uitgebreide mogelijkheden van Blender kan op deze pagina worden gevonden. Met dit programma zijn onder meer de korte opensource animatiefilms Elephants Dream, Big Buck Bunny, Sintel, Tears of Steel, Cosmos Laundromat en Sprite Fright gemaakt. Ook Flow, dat dit jaar onder meer een Oscar en Golden Globe voor beste animatiefilm in de wacht sleepte, is met Blender gemaakt. Prachtige software! Ik vraag mij af waarom 90% van de professionele 3d industrie bij Autodesk blijft. Is het vooral vanwege gewenning, het hebben van een bestaande library of het geen zin hebben om hun pipeline aan te passen? Of zijn er ook echt tools die Maya / 3ds max (of Cinema 4D) hebben die zo integraal voor hun workflow zijn en blender niet heeft? Ik ben benieuwd!
Ik denk 'all of the above'. Er zijn altijd wel workflows die niet met Blender in gedachten zijn gemaakt en de vraag is dan domweg of overstappen wel iets oplevert.
Als bedrijven zijn overgestapt dan is het vaak Solid Works. Het gaat niet alleen om de software, maar ook om de ondersteuning van Autodesk of Solid Works waarom Blender niet wordt toegepast.

Ik weet niet of het met blender mogelijk is om direct cnc-machines aan te sturen.
Autodesk levert veel meer dan alleen AutoCAD (en Inventor)!!
Ik bedoelde het meer in de context van de film / game / animation / archviz industrie. Niet Autodesk Fusion of andere CAD programma's.

CNC-werk met blender kan vast wel in theorie, maar lijkt me geen slimme manier van werken.
Prachtige software, o.a. als renderer voor FreeCAD-projecten (“freecad to blender render” op YouTube).

Flow had zijn openingsweekend eind november 2024. Alhoewel het daarna elders uitgebracht werd, kan die “dit jaar” vanaf 1 januari “volgend jaar” best weggelaten worden.
