Software-update: Nessus 2.0.1

De ontwikkelaars van Nessus hebben ons weer mogen verblijden met een nieuwe versie, welke 2.0.1 is gedoopt. De volgende release notes zijn aanwezig.

The "Nessus" Project aims to provide to the internet community a free, powerful, up-to-date and easy to use remote security scanner. A security scanner is a software which will audit remotely a given network and determine whether bad guys (aka 'crackers') may break into it, or misuse it in some way. Nessus is very fast, reliable and has a modular architecture that allows you to fit it to your needs.

What is new in Nessus 2.0.1, compared to 2.0.0 :

Met dit pakketje heb ik een lek gevonden, die er volgens het CIV helemaal niet mag/kan zijn. Ik kan met dit pakketje namelijk vanaf thuis (bij mijn ouders), opvragen welke shares ik op mijn servertje op de campus heb staan. Het CIV beweert dat die poorten dicht zijn en ik die info dus helemaal niet zou moeten kunnen verkrijgen. Nu is het natuurlijk de vraag, wie heeft er gelijk: dit pakketje of het CIV.

Dat lijkt me niet moeilijk: als de shares die nessus aangeeft ook daadwerkelijk op de server aanwezig zijn is de betreffende poort dus wel open (als ik me niet vergis 139, netbios-ssn).

Open UDP poorten? 'k Geloof dat NetBIOS ook voor een stukje over UDP ging, niet alleen 136-139 TCP/IP.
