Er is een nieuwe versie uit de 3.0-ontwikkeltak van Rainmeter verschenen. Met dit programma kan in realtime allerlei informatie op de desktop worden weergegeven, zoals vrije ruimte op de harde schijf, netwerkactiviteit en of er nieuwe e-mail is. Ook kunnen functionele applets worden gebruikt om bijvoorbeeld notities te maken of om tweets mee te versturen. Versie 3.0 kan gewoon overweg met oudere thema's en skins, dus de nieuwe versie kan zonder zorgen worden geïnstalleerd. Sinds release 2085 van de 3.0-versie zijn de volgende veranderingen en verbeteringen doorgevoerd:

- [Added] Variables: New #ROOTCONFIG# built-in variable. Name of root config - Highest-level folder under the skins folder for the current skin.
- [Fixed] Bangs: Fixed a bug where the !Manage bang would not function without any parameter. "Skins" is the default parameter.
- [Fixed] Meters: Fixed a bug where in some cases the width and height of a meter was not dynamically changing correctly when the Padding option was used.
