Software-update: phpBB 3.0.10

Maandag is versie 3.0.10 uitgebracht van phpBB. Met dit programma is het mogelijk om een webforum te maken. PhpBB wordt onder de gpl-licentie beschikbaar gesteld en maakt gebruik van php en een databaseprogramma om berichten op te slaan. Naast MySQL worden ook PostgreSQL, Oracle, Firebird en SQLite als databasesoftware ondersteund. De complete lijst met veranderingen sinds versie 3.0.9 is op deze pagina te vinden, dit zijn de release notes voor deze versie:

phpBB 3.0.10 released

We are pleased to announce the release of phpBB "Bertie's new year present" 3.0.10. This version is a maintenance release fixing a number of bugs. Most noteworthy a number of moderator controls are now more precisely controlled by specific permissions instead of being available to all moderators. The display of the index page birthday list now also depends on the view profile permission. We have tested phpBB 3.0.10 with the upcoming PHP 5.4 release and made the necessary changes to ensure a smooth upgrade.

We urge you to update your installation as soon as possible. Our support team will only support phpBB 3.0.10, updates to phpBB 3.0.10 and conversions to phpBB 3.0.10. Submissions to our trackers for older versions will not be accepted, please make sure you update before you submit a bug report.

If you use a language pack other than the default "English [GB]", you should check our downloads section, an update may already be available.

Er is daar een discussie over de feature releases en staat ook uitleg waarom het zolang duurt...

Geen security-updates zo te zien. Geen haast maken met updaten dus?

Zie dat de NL-editie op www.phpbb.nl er ook al is.

3.0.10 ? Wauw. ik dacht dat ze harder door de updates gingen bij PhpBB... Moet toegeven dat ik nooit heb kunnen wennen aan de stap PhpBB2 naar 3 en tegenwoordig geen fora meer onderhoud... maar dat gezecht hebbende, vind ik 0.10 versies wat magertjes...

wel leuk om te zien dat dit nog steeds gebruikt wordt.

In juli 2010 was er al spraken van een feature-freez van versie 3.1, tot nog toe is die nog altijd niet beschikbaar...

Ik blijf wel bij xenforo 1.1 ipv phpbb. Ookal kost het geld.

Als je echt geld wilt betalen zijn er natuurlijk wel betere alternatieven, al is dat natuurlijk een kwestie van gewoonte.

Ontopic: ik blijf PhpBB goed vinden, voor een gratis product dan Al moet ik eerlijk zijn.. Ik prefereer toch wel MyBB sinds dat een (voor mij dan) meer professioneel overkomend forum is EN dan nog eens gratis is.

Ga dit weekend zeker eens experimenteren met MyBB, ziet er niet slecht uit.
