Woensdag is de tweede release candidate van MediaPortal uitgebracht. Met dit programma kan een Windows-machine als hart van de multimediahardware in de huiskamer worden gebruikt. Zo kan er op een eenvoudige manier naar radio en muziek worden geluisterd, naar video's en dvd's worden gekeken en kunnen tv-programma's worden opgenomen. Door middel van plug-ins en extensies kunnen de functionaliteit worden uitgebreid en de 'look & feel' van het programma worden aangepast.
In versie 1.1 is volledig afscheid genomen van de oude tv-engine TVE2. Verder wordt nu bij een schone installatie gebruikgemaakt van MySQL 5.1 in plaats van SQL-Server, hoewel ook die laatste nog wel gewoon kan worden gebruikt. Dit is gedaan omdat MySQL minder resources nodig heeft en verder ook prima werkt onder Windows 7. Hieronder is een overzicht te vinden van de belangrijkste veranderingen die sinds de eerste release candidate zijn aangebracht:

- [fixed] several issues in the TvGuide which caused that scheduled recordings were not displayed correctly
- [fixed] Channel Linkage Scanner did not work anymore since Premiere change its name to Sky Germany
- [fixed] Issue with Technotrend where CI MEnu could trigger a crash
- [fixed] Stuttering on tv channels from the ProSieben/Sat.1 Mediagroup
- [fixed] removed blacklisting of FFDShow in TsReader - now it can be used again for the TV-feature and playback of ts files - make sure you use the latest version of ffdshow!
- [fixed] several issues with tv channels which are using dual-mono audiotracks.
- [fixed] various issues with the MTN - video thumbnail creator
- [fixed] Playback of recorded radio is not working
- [fixed] Changing audio language to AC3 does not work
There were some changes done which require Community Skins to update to be fully 1.1.0 RC2 compatible.

MediaPortal 1.1.0 RC1 installation to RC2:MediaPortal 1.0.x or 1.1.0 ALPHA/BETA installation to RC2:
- The installer will allow you to simply "upgrade" to 1.1.0 RC2.
- Please also update your community skins and plugins to their latest version right after you installed 1.1.0 RC2!
- these installations can not be upgraded to 1.1.0 RC2
- these installations will be uninstalled
(No data will be lost, you will find MediaPortal_backup and TV-Server_backup folders which contain the plugins,skins and userfiles of the 1.0.x installations)- refer to the upgrade guide if you are moving from an existing MediaPortal installation, older than 1.1.0 RC1.
- a present TV-Server database will be upgraded and can be reused
- do not reuse any skins, plugins, databases or configuration files from MediaPortal 1.0.x or 1.1.0 ALPHA/BETA with this Release Candidate!
