Afgelopen dinsdag hebben de ontwikkelaars achter Media Portal hun derde en hopelijk laatste release candidate van versie 0.2.3.0 uitgebracht. Met Media Portal kan een Windows XP-machine als het hart van de multimedia hardware in de huiskamer worden gebruikt. Zo kan er op een eenvoudige manier naar radio en muziek worden geluisterd, naar video's en dvd's worden gekeken en kunnen tv-programma's worden opgenomen. Door middel van plugins en extensions kan de functionaliteit worden uitgebreid en de look & feel van het programma worden aangepast. MediaPortal 0.2.3.0 RC3 released!
Here it is! The (hopefully) last Release Candidate on our road to your ultimative HTPC experience - grab MediaPortal 0.2.3.0 RC3 while it is hot! Recently some bigger code changes were needed to get rid of limititations we couldn't bear any longer. Therefore we decided to throw out another Pre-Release.
One of the fundamental changes is our switch to NSIS (Nullsoft Scriptable Install System). NSIS gives us more flexibility creating advanced installers which will allow a lot of customisation. With the RC3 release we mainly want to make sure that this new installer is working nicely.
Further changes have been done mainly to the music section which database is almost a complete rewrite. Inspired by MeediOS we simplified the database layout but also improved its performance. And when you're done with scanning your music shares you might enjoy the new grabber for artist images and album covers which has been added to the audioscrobbler plugin.
We are already curious about your experience. If your feedback is mostly positive then the MediaPortal 0.2.3.0 final version will be released quite soon.[break]
