The MSI 694D dual processor VIA board does have more CPU tweaking options (more FSB speeds, ability to change CPU core voltages independently, thermal diode temperature monitoring), and also carries around the more reliable MSI name on it. As it's known all over the net, Abit boards have a high RMA rate, whereas MSI boards have a relatively low RMA rate. GamePC's technicians have had lots of experience with the MSI 694D, and it has proven to be a reliable board over time. Abit boards appear to be reliable upon first glance, but have an unexpectedly high rate of failure once out in the field. We're hoping the VP6 proves to be a worthwhile and stable board, but we can't forsee the future.
Personally, I would never use the VP6 in a server-scenario, due to the relatively young VIA Apollo Pro 133A chipset and Abit's reputation for stability over time. For day to day workstations that need dual processors, the VP6 should be a great board. While it looks doubtful that many more manufacturers will release dual Pentium III boards in the near future (seeing as how Athlon/DDR and Pentium 4 are both out), Abit's VP6 and MSI's 694D may be the best final SMP platforms to date.
