X-Bit Labs meldt dat de Abit VP6 dual FC-PGA mobo met VIA Apollo Pro 133a chipset vanaf vandaag in massa verkrijgbaar is in Japan. De prijs was ongeveer 175 dollar, verwacht wordt dat hij in de USA $160 gaat kosten. Het bordje werd eerder met enkele weken uitgesteld vanwege troubles met de implementatie van SoftMenu III:
Although we have already expressed some concerns about the delay of ABIT VP6 dual-processor FC-PGA/Socket370 mainboard, it still appeared in retail in Japan today. And these were not just a few pieces: ABIT VP6 is selling in mass!
To tell the truth, the board costs not that much (especially taking into account that hardware prices are usually quite high in Japan): between $175 and $195. it means that by the time we will be able to find it in our shops the cost may drop down to $160 approximately.
[...] Well, let’s hope that ABIT engineers managed to cope with all their problems (connected with SoftMenu III implementation) and that the mainboard will be a really worthy piece.
