Linux 6.16 ReleasedHighlights of Linux 6.16 include initial support for Intel Trusted Domain Extensions, support for Intel APX (Advanced Performance Extensions), USB offload support for audio devices, support for sending coredumps over an AF_UNIX socket, and an automatic auto-tuning weighted interleaved memory allocation policy.
Also new in Linux kernel 6.16 is support for device memory TCP TX path to zero-copy send TCP payloads from DMABUF memory, support for large atomic writes for the XFS file system, support for process local hash for the futex() system call, and multi-fsblock atomic write support for bigalloc file systems and large folio support for regular files on the EXT4 file system.
On top of that, Linux 6.16 adds a new systemd service to run cpupower, a new HD-audio control bound via ACPI for NVIDIA, support for NVIDIA Hopper/Blackwell GPUs to the nouveau graphics driver, Intel Auto Counter Reload (ACR) support, and support for hardware-wrapped keys to fscrypt.
Moreover, Linux kernel 6.16 features support for Intel QAT hardware accelerators in EROFS to improve DEFLATE decompression performance, support for AMD ACP 7.x and a wider range of Intel AVS platforms, Tegra264 support in the ADMA driver, as well as new and updated drivers for better hardware support.
