Sun heeft een nieuwe versie van haar Java 2 platform uitgebracht. Deze is beschikbaar in de smaken SDK (Software Development Kit) en JRE (Java Runtime Environment). Beide versies zijn in verschillende formaten beschikbaar voor zowel Windows, Linux als Solaris. Onder aan deze posting zijn alle beschikbare downloads van de JRE-versie te vinden. Het changelog laat zien dat er een hoop problemen opgelost zijn:
