Versie 0.9.9 van HandBrake is verschenen. Dit opensource- en multithreaded programma, dat beschikbaar is voor Windows, Linux en OS X, kan filmbestanden omzetten naar videobestanden met een h264- of mpeg4-beeldindeling en een aac-, ac3-, mp3- of Ogg Vorbis-geluidsindeling. In deze release is onder andere ondersteuning voor blu-ray, ac3-encoding en audio-downmixing toegevoegd, en er zijn een groot aantal onderdelen bijgewerkt naar nieuwe versies. Naast versie 0.9.9 zijn er ook bèta's verschenen die gebruik maken van Intel's Quick Sync Video en OpenCL. Het changelog voor versie 0.9.9 ziet er als volgt uit:
