Voor het in kaart brengen van Windows-machines in het netwerk kan je gebruikmaken van Lansweeper. Dit programma installeert zich op een server met IIS en is in staat om de aanwezige software en hardware te inventariseren, zonder daarvoor op elke computer een clientprogramma te installeren. Alle informatie is vervolgens via een webinterface te raadplegen zoals op deze demopagina uit te proberen is. Lansweeper komt in een freeware en betaalde vorm, die op deze pagina tegen over elkaar worden gezet. De ontwikkelaar heeft versie 3.2 uitgebracht en voorzien van de volgende lijst met aanpassingen:

With this new feature you don't need lsclient anymore, you only need an active directory forest. The service checks all your domaincontrollers for newly logged on machines and scans them with the same time interval as before. The scanning process will now also scan computer information available in active directory. (OU, Operating system, company, location, ...)
