It appears that the number is there because the Corporation was concerned about people re-marking chips.

It became a feature because someone thought: "Hey let's help out the cosmos and announce it along with the Pentium III-Katmai. We won't bother switching it off this time round, and won't the world think we're wonderful."

We are putting together bundles with components similar to those used in the POW!er 2U Dude! computer to permit upgraders to build their own dual-processor systems. The first bundle to be released consists of: Two matched Intel GPA370 300 Celeron® CPUs, Two RA7B (modified SMI-6905) adaptors wired for dual processor operation, Two Cool-It Dude! FACRX2B Gemini dual-fan coolers, and One Epox SP6-BS dual-processor motherboard in retail box with manual, cables and CD-ROM disk. The processors are tested with the adaptors and motherboard and are guaranteed for stable dual-processor operation at 450 MHz using the nominal 2.0 volts core voltage supplied by the motherboard. Package price is $499.95 plus shipping. All items are in stock for immediate shipment.

"I wanted the film to start at the point where Blair and Maniac were just getting out of the academy," he says, which meant Mark Hamill, who had portrayed Blair in the games, would be out in favor of a younger pilot. The challenge in writing the script was to be faithful to the series, yet make the plot and characters approachable for the masses. After months of work, Roberts approved a script that begins with a Kilrathi attack on a mobile Confederation naval base named Pegasus. During the attack, the Kilrathi steal a NavCom, a device used for interstellar navigation, which would provide the Kilrathi a direct path to Earth. Admiral Tolywn of the Confederation responds to the theft by sending an encrypted message to the spacecraft Diligent, which must in turn deliver it to the Tiger Claw, the only Confederation ship with a chance of saving Earth from a Kilrathi attack. On board the Diligent are two young and brazen fighter pilots, Blair (Prinze, Jr.) and Maniac (Matthew Lillard), who deliver the message to the Tiger Claw, meet their wing commander Angel Devereaux (Saffron Burrows) and fight the Kilrathi head-on attempting to retrieve the NavCom.

Glacier 4500C Arctic Cap review

The Glacier 4500C can either by installed as a standalone product or in combination with the Arctic Cap. Unlike full-blown sandwich coolers, the Glacier does not take up too much room, although I did find that the Arctic Cap was rather too close to comfort to the capacitors on the Abit BX6-2. There are similar problems on the AOpen AX6BC which positions its capacitors very close to the CPU slot. On its own the Glacier requires 3 power connectors, 1 per fan. 2 of the fans are "intelligent" and report RPM to the BIOS. The fans rotate at around 4,500 RPM. The final connector is of the 4 pin variety, more commonly used to power CD-ROM's and hard drives. The Arctic Cap requires a further power connector. A couple of tubes of thermal paste is provided, although unless a very thin layer is applied, the results can be counterproductive.

Fedinator makes editing the player stats on your saved teams easy to do. No hassles with Hex Editors that are complicated. Installation is easy but you computer must be able to run Visual Basic 6 for Fedinator to run properly! I included the VB6 runtime files that need to be executed before Fedinator 99 will run.

Downen kan hier.

Daikatana demo review

Daikatana's graphics are a mixed bag that really shows the aging process in this game's development. Daikatana started using the Quake engine, and migrated later to the Quake II codebase, and even though the engine still remained fairly the same, it's fair to say that the development methods used between Quake and Quake II didn't. Quake was a "BEHOLD! True 3D!!" masterpiece of simplicity, in which models didn't actually have to look like humans, and textures and building structures could remain blocky and unrealistic because when it was first released, it pushed the window of technology until it burst. Quake II, on the other hand, was a much more mature game, with realistic looking models, decreased use of unnecessary cubism in level design, and in general attempted to capture a sense of reality.

Southpark review @ GEM

"I'm not fat, I'm just big-boned!" If you love the show, you're sure to love the PC version of SouthPark. All your favorite SP characters are found in the game, as well as the all too familiar sounds of the show.

The graphics in the game, are very well done. From the opening animation (almost a direct translation from the t.v show), to in-game graphics, the folks over at Iguanna did an excellent job. The game itself, supports Direct3D, as well as most 3D Cards. Things ran quite well, and smoothly on both Voodoo1, and Voodoo2 based cards. Even at high-detail, the game performed nicely. There were a few graphic glitches through out the game, but nothing too noticeable. All the characters, and scenery are near perfect copies of their respective t.v counterparts

I actually had quite a good time playing SouthPark, both in single player mode, and in multiplay. The game ran quite well, when hosting a game over ISDN, and having 6 people all trying to do each other in with snowballs. Though definitely not the next "quake killer", SouthPark turned out to be a lot of fun. If you like first-person shooters, and even if you aren't into the SouthPark show. The one factor, that kept the game from getting a 100% rating, quite frankly is because they shouldn't have "bleeped" out the !*@!!@# language.

Supervette HP heatsink

It seems after years of development, Hewlett Packard is now planning on getting into the heatsink market. With their technology known as the ArtiCooler has been used in their HP servers for years after HP couldn't find any better cooling solutions, so they decided to make their own. Currently there is only one cooler being used on this new technology, HP's SnowLeopard Xeon cooler (see below), but word comes that they have a SECC2 (Pentium III) cooler using this technology in the works. K6-2 vs K6-III benchmarks

Wicked3D Eyescream review

Almost any game based on the Quake 1/2 engine will be in the gold list. The eyeSCREAM was developed just for this genre of game. 90 percent of first-person shooter games are given the gold rating. Games like Quake2 or Unreal worked flawlessly. Unreal takes on a new look in 3D with its very dark, forbidding levels and beautiful outdoors.  Although, it could never be officially added to the list, The ever popular Nintendo64 emulator UltraHLE could be added to the gold category. Zelda64, Mario64, and Goldeneye all worked with out a hitch.  Their are many other non-FPS, but still popular games that are also on the gold list. Games like NFL Blitz, Madden 99, Monster Truck Madness 2, and Need For Speed III. You can check out  the rest of Wicked3D's gold list here.

Thrustmaster Rage3D review

The Thrustmaster Rage3D touts its unique feature of having both 2D and 3D modes that can be switched between at will. The 2D mode is just like a basic digital gamepead, with movements on the controller being mapped in 8 directions at the exact same speed. This is useful in arcade games like Mortal Kombat 3 or one of the various side-scrollers we know and loathe. Switching to the 3D mode gives you some of the latitude of movement found in analog joysticks or proportional D-Pads. The easiest way to explain it would be to say that the Rage3D has combined the digital and proportional D-Pads on the Gravis Xterminator into one D-Pad using a switch to change between modes.

Viper V770 review @ Gamespot

The first is heat. Diamond is clocking the card "aggressively." The Viper 770 I tested had 32MB of 6 nanosecond SDRAM; when it booted up, the boot-up message described the card as the "Viper 770 Ultra." The 770 comes with a hefty heatsink/fan combination. During testing, the heatsink got only a little warm to the touch, and the memory chips stayed cool. So heat seems less of a problem than with overclocked TNTs.

640x480x16bpp (16-bit textures):

- RivaTNT2 - 50.7

- Rage128 - 48.1

- RivaTNT - 48.0

- Voodoo2 - 44.7 (Ed: HOLY SHIT THAT'S GOOD!)

640x480x32bpp:

- Rage128 - 47.0 (16-bit textures)

- RivaTNT2 - 43.7 (32-bit textures)

- RivaTNT - untested

- Voodoo2 - N/A

1600x1200x16bpp (16-bit textures):

- RivaTNT2 - 18.1

- Rage128 - 15.1

- RivaTNT - 11.7

- Voodoo2 - N/A

So how well should we expect Savage 4 to fare? Fairly well (har har), I would imagine, but you must consider what S3 is up against: 3DFX's Voodoo3 will be hitting shelves any day now, and the higher-end models (3500 and up) are expected to shatter everything we know about high frame rates. NVIDIA's TNT2 is my favourite of the pack, and stands a chance of ousting 3DFX as the king of frame rates, and they're throwing 32-bit rendering into the mix. ATI's Rage 128 is making waves right now, and you can bet they have something else up their sleeves to offset the next-generation accelerator wars. Matrox's G400 is also going to be announced soon, but I don't expect them to gain any market share with this one. The G200 was nice and all, but Matrox cannot do it on their own.
