Gamepost heeft een review van de Daikatana Deathmatch demo, die vrijdag gereleased werd, op z'n site geparkeerd. Hier een stuk over de graphics:
Daikatana's graphics are a mixed bag that really shows the aging process in this game's development. Daikatana started using the Quake engine, and migrated later to the Quake II codebase, and even though the engine still remained fairly the same, it's fair to say that the development methods used between Quake and Quake II didn't. Quake was a "BEHOLD! True 3D!!" masterpiece of simplicity, in which models didn't actually have to look like humans, and textures and building structures could remain blocky and unrealistic because when it was first released, it pushed the window of technology until it burst. Quake II, on the other hand, was a much more mature game, with realistic looking models, decreased use of unnecessary cubism in level design, and in general attempted to capture a sense of reality.
