The Tech Zone over internetverslaving

The Tech Zone babe Tammy (zie pic) heeft een klein artikel in elkaar gemikt over het fenomeen internetverslaving. Hieronder wat info over de 'symptomen':

1. Do you feel preoccupied with the Internet? For instance having to go back to The Techzone every few minutes to make sure you haven’t missed anything? Wait, that’s a good thing. Okay, nix this example.Let’s see…like, perhaps, looking at any other technical sites, that could never possibly compare to The Techzone?
2. Do you feel the need to use the Internet with increasing amounts of time in order to achieve satisfaction (please do not refer to Addiction 1 here).
3. Do you stay on-line longer than originally intended? (You haven’t missed work again, have you?)
4. Have you jeopardized or risked the loss of a significant relationship, job, educational, or career opportunity because of the Internet? In other words, did you tell the company you could not take the promotion, because it would interfere with quality time between you and Cassandra (a little nickname for your PC)?

Another place to determine your level of Internet addiction is at this site. Of course, the title of the article is: “Addicted to Your Computer? Take Our Online Quiz to Find Out.” Now, this could be seen as an enabling tool to those who are addicts by having them complete a quiz on the very thing the article argues against using too much. On the other hand, it could be seen as a way to educate those who are going to be online anyway. This is a very interesting article and quiz, so if you have any questions about your level of Internet use, please take a look.

Hmm, ik wil misschien proberen om af te gaan kicken. Ik heb het al met pleisters geprobeerd, maar dan zie ik voor de rest ook zo weinig. Iemand een ideetje? Misschien een AT-groepje voor Anonieme Tweakers en voor de eXtra veslaafden een ATX-Groep.

De toon van't artikel is best grappig; dat maakt het niet zo droog. Neemt niet weg dat het wel degelijk een probleem kan zijn.

IMHO is een verslaving aan surfen niet zo'n probleem. Het web blijft in feite het zelfde als een 'krant', zij het dat deze wat vaker 'uitkomt'.

Probleem is wanneer er interactie bijkomt (Tweakers? ).

Grootste gevaar schuilt hem in IRC. De kracht van IRC is de ANTI verveling. Je hoeft je nooit te vervelen, er is altijd iemand. Je hebt altijd aanspraak.

Als je daar inloopt kom je snel op het punt dat je je verveelt achter je comp, je favoriete irc kanaal lijkt leuker dan wat je ook doet, en daarom ga je maar weer in je irc kanaal hangen. Want daar, hangen ook mensen, puur om de verveling te verdrijven. Voor je het weet hang je een aantal uur per dag online.

Je leert op den duur de stamgasten kennen, wordt er zelf een en de cirkel is rond.

Een paar stappen verder is dat je in het weekend om 04.00 met je dronken kop thuiskomt en 'toch nog ff gaat chatten". En zie daar; de stamgasten zitten ook met hun dronken kop online.

Langzaam gaan gebeurtenissen/personen online wedijveren met die in het echte leven.

Then it's time to pull da plug.

Iemand zei "In amerika....". In amerika is het eerder manifest omdat internet daar (qua telefoontikken) niet zo duur is; 6-7 online chatten per dag en dan je KPN rekening voldoen loop je op leeg. Naarmate kabel hier oprukt word het hier net zo erg.

Or join an exercise program that gives you a similar feeling of being in control.</div><div class=b1>

ag, eigenlijk is 't allemaal gebaseerd op vooroordelen...
wie zegt dat nou dat 16uur computerenper dag slecht is

tis net wat je wilt... ik zit soms wel es iets van 20uur of meer op me pc.. gaat ook bijna geen dag voorbij dat ik er nie 8ter zit... but it's a way of life....
