So is the PCRW2010 the greatest burner on earth? Let's just say it came pretty close. The drive did extremely well in our reading tests, having one of the highest CD Winbench scores I've seen. In our other tests the drive consistently met or exceeded its rated speed of 40x, even with CD-RW media, and had some very good seek times. The drive also did very well in our DAE tests, completing all of the tests without a hitch. With 24x drives on the market, the PCRW2010 is not the fastest drive out there, but is one of the quickest 20x drives available.
[...]Even with 24x drives on the market, the PCRW2010 really impressed me. It's good to see that Philips is not only an innovator in CD technology but can also make drives that perform well. The drive has just started to hit the US markets, so it might be hard to find. The few local stores that do have it in stock have it priced a little higher than some of the other 20x and 24x drives currently out. Fortunately, Philips will be pricing the drive at $149.99 starting November 1st. This is a pretty good price when you consider that you get one of the best performing 20x CD-RW drives, a great software package and the support of a great company like Philips.
