I'd like to clarify our earlier post regarding news that ASUS may be discontinuing the A7M266 with some new information by way of Chris at AMDZone indicating that ASUS has no intention of canceling the A7M266 and denies any alleged stability issues. The email regarding the alleged cancellation was apparently circulated by TC Computers, not ASUS.
Obviously, AMD's chipsets serve to pave the way for third-party solutions, like those from VIA and ALi, and the AMD-760 is no exception. Eventually, the A7M266 will be discontinued in favor of a new motherboard based on a new chipset from one of the aforementioned companies. That day is not today, however, and even at that point, ASUS will almost certainly continue to support the A7M266 for some time to come.
