The market will soon become inundated with boards boasting DDR support and the question is which ones will rise to the top. With the A7M266 you get a board that has proven, in our test, to be a remarkable performer, even when operating on a 200MHz FSB. Asus has, once again, delivered a stellar solution to your upgrade addictions. The A7M266 not only boasts the latest in technology with its support for DDR SDRAM, but also allows for future upgrades to the 266FSB Athlon Thunderbirds. One can only imagine the kinds of scores we will see upon revisiting this board equipped with a "C" T-bird.The one downside to the A7M266 is that it is a tad expensive. At a MSRP of $195, the A7M266 may keep you from affording that extra stick of DDR, or even that "C" T-bird.
[...] The high price and general trepidation towards power supplies have been reflected in the A7M266's "Reliability" and "Value" scores. Once you put aside the aforementioned shortcomings, you will find one of the best mainboards on the market. The Asus A7M266 is in a word, phenomenal. We have never had the pleasure of witnessing such scores to date and can only hope that this is a sign of what 2001 will bring to the home PC enthusiast.
