Well, the question, which has been troubling most of you for a long time already seems to be finally cleared up. Can AMD Duron work with the FSB set to 150MHz? We tested about two dozens of different Duron processors with EPoX EP-8KTA3 mainboard (KT133A) chipset and can say that all the CPUs tested worked fine with the FSB set to any value from 100MHz (200MHz DDR) to 150MHz (300MHz DDR). Of course, we had to reduce the clock multiplier for some of them with the already familiar to you "pencil method" (read AMD Duron Overclocking Experience article for more details). We failed to make the system work at the frequency exceeding 150MHz. We will discuss the reasons a bit later.So, the "right" mainboards based on VIA KT133A chipset will undoubtedly turn out the best solution for overclocking fans. And now let us remind you shortly, how you could define the "right" mainboard. It should allow:
- Changing the processor clock multiplier;
- Changing VIO up to 3.6V or higher;
- Changing Vcore (up to 1.85V preferably).
