Chipset marktleider VIA is erg positief over hun omzetverwachtingen voor het jaar 2001. De voor dit jaar verwachtte omzet van 989 miljoen dollar wordt waarschijnlijk gehaald en voor volgend jaar voorspelt men een groei van 50% naar $1,5 miljard. Deze tamelijk heftige stijging is volgens VIA o.a. mogelijk omdat zij leider zijn op het gebied van DDR chipsets. Tevens ziet VIA veel mogelijkheden in de groeiende markt voor geïntegreerde chipsets met ingebakken graphics decelerator:
"We are doing very well in the chipset market and our market share continues to increase," Brown said. "We certainly expect that to continue as we move into next year."
Via, which has 1,200 staff, of which 75 percent are engineers, has an estimated 40 percent of the global market for chipsets.
