Well, we finally managed to dig out a bit of info confirming our suppositions concerning the memory on a new graphics card from Creative based on GeForce2 MX (plus DDR SDRAM). As we have forecast no wonder happened: the memory bus will be really a 64bit one like on 16MB ASUS V7100. Moreover, Creative will use 150MHz DDR SDRAM chips. It means that the bandwidth of Creative GeForce2 MX memory will make 2.4GB/sec, which is even slower than by ordinary graphics cards based on GeForce2 MX. In fact, in case of SDR SDRAM the default memory frequency is 166MHz and together with 128bit memory bus it makes 2.7GB/sec bandwidth. As a result, we get a really absurd situation: GeForce2 MX with DDR memory appears slower than the same cards equipped with SDR memory. So, forget about getting a fast card for small money.
Bedankt Joshua voor de tip!
