The Register meldt dat AMD de oorspronkelijk voor 5 september geplande prijsverlaging vooruit heeft geschoven naar 14 augustus. Volgens de bronnen van The Reg zal de prijs van de 1GHz Athlon op de 14de waarschijnlijk onder de 500 dollar zakken. Verder worden er geen concrete prijzen genoemd:
Sources close to AMD's plans have confirmed that we can expect big price drops on its microprocessors on the 14th of August. The cuts were originally slated for the end of this month, as revealed here some weeks back.[...] As we reported on the 11th July (see link below), the price of its 1GHz Athlon is likely to hit the sub-$500 mark on that day.
