Previously, the Coppermine has edged out the Athlon cores in SPEC thanks to its high performance cache and heavily optimized compilers. However, this seems to be changing as the Thunderbird tests made use of a beta version of Compaq's Visual Fortran 6.5, which is said to have Athlon optimizations (actually I'm not sure if this is the same version...but it's an unreleased version either way).As far as SpecInt2000 is concerned, it's likely that the Athlon cores are still a bit behind the Coppermine at least until more optimized compilers arrive.
