Het volk van VIAHardware heeft een interview gepost met Richard Brown van VIA. Helaas niet echt nieuwe info maar wel een leuke update over de stand van zaken binnen het bedrijf. Hier een stukkie:
1) Are there chipsets based on DDR SDRAM in VIA's future? If so, how soon can we expect them?
We are currently working on the development of DDR chipsets, and will be outlining our plans at our forthcoming DDR 266: Revving up PC System Performance seminar on 5 June at Computex 2000 Taiwan.
4) Is VIA developing for upcoming technologies, such as ATA100, Serial ATA, and USB 2.0?
We are always working on new technologies and will definitely support the ones you mention. Another technology we believe has huge potential is 1394, and we already have a discrete VIAFire 1394 solution on the market. With its fast data throughput rates, 1394 provides the best solution for connecting consumer electronics devices such as Digital Video Cameras to the PC.
5) What are the specifications of the upcoming Ezra and Samuel processors, and any rough estimate as to release date?
Like the VIA Cyrix III, Samuel is socket 370 processor with support for 3DNow! and a 133MHz FSB. It will debut at speeds starting at 500MHz. Specs for Ezra are not finalized yet.
