De Gnome Foundation heeft de tweede update uitgebracht voor versie 2.14 van zijn Desktop Environment. Gnome is een uitgebreide, gebruiksvriendelijke opensource desktopomgeving voor besturingssystemen die tot de Unix-familie behoren, zoals GNU/Linux en BSD. De naam is een afkorting voor GNU Network Object Model Environment. Gnome bestaat uit een desktopomgeving en een ontwikkelplatform, waarmee andere applicaties kunnen worden gemaakt die in de desktopomgeving geïntegreerd kunnen worden. Het is in dat opzicht vergelijkbaar met KDE. De release notes voor Gnome 2.14.2 zien er als volgt uit:
