Software-update: MDaemon 8.0.2

MDaemon is door Alt-N Technologies voorzien van een update naar versie 8.0.2. MDaemon is een mailserver voor het Windows-platform met ingebakken maatregelen tegen spam en virussen. Daarnaast is er ondersteuning aanwezig voor plug-ins waarmee beheer op afstand, web toegang en speciale monitoring functies mogelijk worden. Andere features die aanwezig zijn in deze mailserver zijn bijvoorbeeld delen van contactlists, tasklist en agenda's en het valideren van afzenders door middel van DomainKeys. Het changelog van deze release laat de volgende veranderingen zien:

Changes in MDaemon 8.02:

• The migrator was not converting old "global memos" to the new system. Global memos will now be converted and placed onto the domain's public Calendar folder. The permissions from the old system are preserved as well as all the data. The only difference is that global memos can no longer be placed on each individual user's private calendar. Instead they are placed on the domain's public calendar. This is one instance where the old system was easier to understand and use than the new one and where the functionality could not be precisely translated.
• You can disable list view page reloading within WorldClient Lookout by setting the following key in Domains.ini. You can also set this in a user's User.ini file as well.

• You can now specify a second SMTP port on the Setup|Primary Domain|Ports screen. This is to get around ISPs who are more and more starting to restrict traffic on port 25. Specifing 0 (zero) as a port for a service will disable that service.
• Added checkboxes to the Setup|WorldClient|Calendar tab to control the sending of email and instant message calendar and task reminders.
• Added switch to Gateway ATRN tab to require AUTH when sending messages as a user of the gateway domain. This switch is disabled by default so as not to break existing installations but you can change this to enabled for all domains by editing the following in MDaemon.ini:

• Shared folders are now enabled by default. You can switch off shared folders if you want to disable this feature.
• Added logic to DK cache to NOT cache domains putting SPF record into DK namespace.
• fix to "copy/move" option missing from WorldClient context menu for messages in the Spam Trap folder
• fix to messages lacking MIME header not being parsed for spam/ham learn
• fix to work-around FireFox 1.03 issues with WorldClient web mail
• fix to buffer overflow when using ODBC database with long data values
• fix to French DK cache file header problem (French users should delete DKCache.dat and restart MD to get proper file version)
• fix to WorldClient LookOut not loading correctly for some IIS6 users
• fix to lack of public contact folder access under MDaemon Standard
• fix to looping problem with "ignore RTE error" enabled route slips
• fix to crashing on startup of trial versions in Italian or French
• fix to unable to add iCal attachments to WorldClient Calendar
• fix to incorrect wording on gateway relaying option in GUI
• fix to old autoresponders starting up when start/end time are invalid
• fix to OC/GW not being enabled when a new key is entered
• fix to imprecise warning text when changing existing RSA keys for DK
• fix to contact export not working in German version
• fix to LookOut reporting the message didnt' exist when deleting the last message in a folder
• fix to SpamAssassin checked performed by the SMTP engine getting different results from queue based scans (some additional work here might be needed)
• fix to folders list icons erroneously reloading in LookOut
• fix to contacts lost after migration if addrbook.mrk is not valid XML
• fix to contacts folder may contain duplicate contacts after migration
• fix to message counts not updated in LookOut after composing draft
• fix to calendar/task/contact comment field not synched with Outlook

Hebben hier ook mensen last van dat WebAdmin van Mdaemon niet meer goed werkt met Mozilla 1.0.3?

Dat gaat over WorldClient, ik heb het over WebAdmin. Die moet je apart downloaden en installeren.

nadat ik deze update gedownload en geïnstalleerd had, start MDaemon niet meer op
zijn er meer mensen met dit probleem?

het draait wel, maar met geen mogelijkheid kan ik hem configureren. Taakbalkicoontje komt niet tevoorschijn, ook niet met "Refresh MDaemon Icon"

Nergens last van. Herstart Mdaemon anders. Ook op de newsgroup altn.mdaemon.issues is niets te vinden. Plaats anders daar je vraag, binnen een uur heb je meestal antwoord.

Iemand ervaring met Mdaemon? Gebruik nu Kerio mailserver hoor graag voor en nadelen ten opzichten van elkaar of zijn er nog beter mailservers voor windows 2003

Kun je MDaemon ook alleen als smtp server gebruiken (dus geen pop accounts) waarbij je wel authenticatie o.i.d. toepast, dus niet dat het een soort open relay wordt?
