Software-update: Enpass 6.11.21

Versie 6.11.21 van Enpass voor Windows is uitgekomen. Deze wachtwoordmanager is beschikbaar voor Windows, macOS, Linux, Android en iOS. Het programma stelt je in staat om eenvoudig bij websites in te loggen en je wachtwoorden te beheren. Zo kunnen nieuwe wachtwoorden worden gegenereerd en laat het programma weten of een wachtwoord zwak is, oud is of vaker wordt gebruikt. Data wordt versleuteld lokaal opgeslagen, maar synchroniseren via diensten als iCloud, Dropbox, Google Drive en OneDrive is ook mogelijk. Enpass is gratis te gebruiken op de desktop; voor gebruik op een mobiel apparaat of met verschillende gebruikers zal een abonnement afgesloten moeten worden. Improved autosave behavior

When saving or updating logins tied to your registered business account, items are now more reliably saved to the Business Primary Vault, improving vault selection accuracy during autosave.

Improved handling of password change on websites

Enpass will now identify the correct login item even when the username is not available, making password updates more reliable.

Expanded passkey compatibility

Added support for passkey authentication in iframes. Introduced support for passkey signals provided by relying parties, enabling automatic update of metadata and cleanup when you delete or update a passkey from the account page on a website.

Resolved an issue with Windows Hello

Fixed an issue where users had to manually click the Windows Hello prompt to unlock the app in certain scenarios.

Resolved network reachability issue

Fixed an issue that could cause DNS resolution failures in certain corporate VPN environments.

Ik vind het een groter nieuws dat er blijkbaar weer een Lifetime licentie terug is. Dat is wel echt een top beslissing! Al hadden ze die natuurlijk nooit moeten weg halen!

Security Criticism

2024 Evaluation of Password Checkup Tools

A 2024 study by Hutchinson et al. examined the “password checkup” features of 14 password managers, including Enpass, using weak, breached, and randomly generated passwords. The authors found that the evaluated products reported weak and compromised passwords inconsistently and sometimes incompletely. No manager successfully flagged all known breached passwords. The study concludes that such inconsistencies may give users a false sense of security.

2025 DOM-based Extension Clickjacking

Security researcher Marek Tóth presented a vulnerability in browser extensions of several password managers, including Enpass, at DEF CON 33 on August 9, 2025. In their default configurations, these extensions were shown to be exposed to a DOM-based extension clickjacking technique, allowing attackers to exfiltrate user data with just a single click.The affected password manager vendors were notified in April 2025. According to Tóth, Enpass version 6.11.6 (released August 13, 2025) addressed this issue.
