BleachBit is een programma waarmee rommel op de computer kan worden opgeruimd. Het is daarmee vergelijkbaar met CCleaner van Piriform, maar er zijn ook enkele belangrijke verschillen. Ten eerste is BleachBit open source en verder is er naast een Windows-uitvoering ook een versie voor Linux. Het programma kan worden gebruikt in meer dan zestig talen, waaronder het Nederlands. Door toevoeging van winapp2.ini, dat het overigens automatisch zelf ophaalt, kan het programma de sporen van ruim 1700 programma's opruimen. Naast gewoon verwijderen is er ook de optie om de ruimte die de bestanden in gebruik namen, diverse keren te overschrijven, zodat terughalen onmogelijk wordt. Andrew Ziem heeft versie 5.0.2 uitgebracht en hierin zijn de volgende veranderingen en verbeteringen aangebracht:

Developers
- Fix: error message The function wbindtextdomain() is not available.
- Fix: Do not hang when cleaning Windows updates.
- Fix: Improve exception handling for wiping files.
- The app uses a newly renewed digital certificate, which may cause temporary security warnings from Microsoft SmartScreen or antivirus software. You may report a false positive.

Looking ahead
- Better cookie management is around the corner! The GUI is built, and the backend is in progress for the 5.2.0 release. See issue 1329 for a demo video.
- The next-generation GUI is in progress for the 5.4.0 release. It will debut as an option, so users who prefer the old interface can continue using it.
