Op de site van PHP.net is een nieuwe versie van de hypertext preprocessor aangekondigd. Het gaat om de derde release candidate van de 5.0.0-branche en de developers hopen dat deze tak nu stabiel genoeg is om in productieomgevingen gebruikt teworden. Deze release is van de PHP-site in drie verschillende smaken te downloaden. Naast de bzip2- en tarball-pakketten voor Linux-systemen, is er ook een variant voor Windows als zip-file gebakken.
