Symantec heeft in het verleden twee verschillende bedrijven overgenomen die encryptiesoftware ontwikkelden: GuardianEdge en PGP. Symantec bracht de software van deze twee acquisities lange tijd als twee verschillende encryptieproductlijnen uit. De GuardianEdge-lijn werd hernoemd in 'Endpoint Encryption' en de PGP-lijn werd hernoemd in 'Encryption Desktop', samen met 'Encryption Management Server'. Voor een buitenstaander was het verwarrend dat één bedrijf twee verschillende encryptieproducten uitbracht die met elkaar concurreerden en die niet met elkaar konden samenwerken. Daaraan is met de uitgave van Endpoint Encryption 11 in 2014 grotendeels een einde gekomen. Aangezien er geen makkelijke weg is om te upgraden van SED en SEMS naar SEE, worden er nog maintenancepacks uitgebracht voor de oude PGP-lijn. De ontwikkeling van nieuwe functies wordt echter alleen gericht op de gefuseerde Endpoint Encryption-lijn. Het ontwikkelteam heeft versie 11.2.0 MP1 uitgebracht, met de volgende lijst veranderingen:

- Microsoft Windows 10 containers in the Docker application no longer fail to start when Removable Media Encryption is installed on the same system as the Docker application.
- When users enable the Windows Defender Application Guard feature in Microsoft Windows 10, Removable Media Encryption no longer encrypts the files that are needed by the Application Guard feature.
- Symantec Endpoint Encryption for BitLocker now automatically initializes drive encryption when installed on the following systems:
- HP EliteBook 800 G1
- HP EliteBook 800 G2
- HP EliteBook 800 G3
- HP Z440 Workstation
- When users copy or move EFS-encrypted files or folders to removable storage devices using systems that have Removable Media Encryption installed and the encryption format is set to SEE-RS, the EFS encryption is removed before Removable Media Encryption encrypts the files.
- The partmgr.sys file no longer triggers a stop error after installing Symantec Endpoint Encryption.
- Resolved a compatibility issue with Opal v2-compliant drives in HP EliteBook 850 G4 systems.
- Added compatibility with the following Opal v2-compliant drives:
- Micron MTFDDAV256TBN-1AR15ABHA
- Sandisk SD9TN8W-256G-1006
- While upgrading the Drive Encryption feature of the Symantec Endpoint Encryption Client, the upgrade process no longer fails if the client installation package (MSI) was advertised first.
- After upgrading the Symantec Endpoint Encryption Client, Dell laptops no longer fail to boot up.
- While attempting a recovery for locked stand-alone client systems using the HelpDesk Recovery snap-in in the Management Console, the recovery wizard now successfully generates a recovery key and the Computer not found in domain error message is no longer displayed.
- After upgrading from Symantec Endpoint Encryption 11.1.3, or a later version, on Windows systems, any custom preboot login screen that was configured in the installer works correctly
- If Management Agent was originally installed at a custom location, the installer no longer reverts to the default installation path during upgrades
