Een nieuwe versie gaat meestal gepaard met nieuwe features en/of bugfixes, zo ook de tweede release candidate van PHP 4.3.3. Het is bijvorbeeld mogelijk om vanuit de nieuwe uitgave een HTTP error-pagina en directory listings te genereren. Daarnaast zijn enkele (crash)bugs opgelost. Het changelog ziet er als volgt uit:
