Er is een bètarelease van Transmission versie 2.50 uitgebracht. Deze torrentclient gebruikt weinig resources, is platformonafhankelijk en opensource, en heeft een eenvoudige en overzichtelijke interface. Het programma is ontwikkeld voor gebruik onder Mac OS X, maar op de downloadpagina zijn ook versies voor Linux, Solaris, FreeBSD en enkele nas-systemen te vinden. Van deze bèta zijn op dit moment echter alleen de Mac-binary en de broncode beschikbaar. In versie 2.50 zijn de volgende veranderingen en verbeteringen aangebracht:
