Donderdag heeft Skype een nieuwe bètarelease van zijn voip-client voor Windows vrijgegeven. Met Skype is het mogelijk om door middel van tekst, spraak of beeld, of een combinatie daarvan, over een internetverbinding met andere Skype-gebruikers te communiceren. In versie 4.1 is daar de mogelijkheid om de desktop met de gesprekspartner te delen aan toegevoegd. Verder is het nu nog makkelijker om nieuwe contacten van externe bronnen, zoals bijvoorbeeld GMail, Hotmail, Yahoo en AOL, te importeren en is er verder aan de kwaliteit van spraak en video gesleuteld. In versie 4.2.0.141 bèta zijn de volgende veranderingen en verbeteringen aangebracht:
